What is the difference between screened and unscreened topsoil?

Screened topsoil is run through a screener to remove most rocks, sticks, and clumps, making it smoother and easier to spread for lawns, gardens, and landscaping.

Unscreened topsoil is not sifted and may contain larger clumps and natural material. It is not smooth for spreading and is best used for filling low spots, rough grading, or areas that will be covered with screened topsoil later.

How much topsoil do I need for my project?

Most lawns and garden areas need between 2 to 4 inches of topsoil. You can use our calculator to enter your length, width, and depth and get the total yards required. It is always best to round up to the next full yard.

Do you deliver topsoil to my location?

Yes. MarJo delivers topsoil within a 50 to 75 mile radius of our yard. If you are unsure, just call and we will confirm your exact location and delivery timing.

Can I pick up topsoil instead of having it delivered?

Yes. You can pick up screened or unscreened topsoil at our Shoemaker and Sons yard during business hours. We will load your truck or trailer for you.
